Our Field-Grown Hessian Wrapped Citrus Trees are grown naturally in open fields allowing each tree to develop a healthy, well-balanced root system before being lifted and wrapped by hand in naturel hessian. This method produces hardier, more established citrus trees with vigorous growth and early fruiting potential.
Each tree is individually field grown in the ground, nurtured under full sunlight and fresh air – just as nature intended. When lifted from the ground, the roots are gently wrapped in breathable hessian and secured with twine, keeping moisture in till ready for planting.
We have two varieties available –
: Lemon Meyer – ( Sweet and Juicy ) It’s compact, prolific, and produces fruit nearly all year round. It is our most popular home-grown lemon.
: Lime Bearss – Is the classic seedless lime found in restaurants and cocktail bars. It’s larger than the Tahitian lime, with thin, smooth green skin and strong, aromatic juice – ideal for cooking, drinks, and desserts.
Planting tips –
: Choose a sunny, sheltered position with free-draining soil
: Simply cut the string and remove. Do not remove the hessian. Dig a wide hole and place your citrus and hessian in the hole and gently unwrap the hessian and cover with soil.
: Water deeply after planting.
: When planting mix a good handful of sheep pellets, Novatec slow release fertiliser with Revital Grow-well compost. Mix together with soil dug from hole, then pack around the citrus.
Care Summary –
: Light – Plant in full sun frost-free site
: Watering – Water 2-3 times a week over the summer months, less over winter.
: Feeding – Feed with Novatec slow release fertiliser every three months around the drip line of the plant
: Height – Approx. 1.5 -3m
